"When you grow up with literally nothing that belongs to you and then are turned out into the world with that same nothing, money can save a hell of a lot," she points out quietly. Her chances without her powers would have been pretty slim. An addict for a mother, poverty, that woman being the only role model she had when it came to survival. April knows where she would have ended up.

"Well, I don't need the money anymore," she says when he asks if she's done with it. "And I haven't taken a job since I arrived in town." But sometimes she misses it. Not even for the sake of the money, but because there had been a sense of pride that had come with being that good at something.
