Caden had always been curious about where her money came from. He knew that
it wasn't family money, given what she's told him about her past. Still, he
never pushed. Maybe he should have, because the news that she's a con
artist sort of knocks him through a loop. But then again, he's not exactly
surprised, not really.
"A con artist," he says dumbly. He swallows hard and scrubs a hand over his
face. A thought occurs to him and he looks up at her, biting his lip for a
moment. "Is that what I was supposed to be?"
He knows that it isn't what he ended up as. Whatever they have now is real.
He knows it is, and he trusts in that. She wouldn't be telling him if it
wasn't, for one, but he just looks at her and he knows that she care.
Still, he just has to know.
