"Something is wrong," she answers and she knows she should say hello or at least greet him in some way, but Les is one of the few people in this town she feels comfortable being herself around and so she sees no reason to pretend things are fine when they're clearly not. "Something is wrong with my powers. I can't do what I'm supposed to be able to do."

He'll know what she means. If that means he knows she was trying to use her powers to get something she wants, so be it. Les doesn't have any illusions about the person she is, the person she's capable of being, and it's refreshing to be able to just be honest about this.
