He has no idea.

She smiles anyway, bright and genuine, because she is flattered and she doesn't have to fake that at all. Even in Siren Cove, being herself, not trying to con anyone, she's been in several situations where she's had to pretend to be something else. But with Coop she's never had that. The woman he claims to like, that's as close to the real April as anyone here has gotten except perhaps her father, but she's lied to him time and again. Caden and Les get a version of her that's almost close to the truth, but she's kept parts of herself back from even them.

But even so, even though he might know the closest version to herself that she's given in a long time, he doesn't know everything. He's trying to be real and April might be the least real person in Siren Cove, but that doesn't mean she can't appreciate what he's saying. She doubts that's what her family actually feels, she thinks they're all just trying to do what they think they're expected of them, but she doesn't know how much of it is really genuine.

"I guess that works, I like having you around, too," she says. He certainly beats her family, though she's not sure she'd say that out loud. Where things stand right now, she's trying to tread lightly, not to avoid hurting anyone's feelings, but because she's not sure where she might need someone down the line.
