"You sure do know how to make a girl feel special," she murmurs, propping herself up on her elbows so she can watch him and it's true. She says it that way so it doesn't get to the heart of what she's feeling, so it isn't too personal, but it's true. When she's here with Caden, she feels special. She's sure he doesn't look at anyone else the way he looks at her, not even Les. And she's sure that if she asked him to, if she wanted to, he'd be hers and hers alone.
She doesn't know how to ask something like that. She doesn't even know if she's capable of it. For a short period of time, she'd thought maybe, but she'd been proved wrong once when she'd shown a man she could have fallen in love with what she was and he'd run from her. Les and Caden haven't, but she thinks the fact that there is two of them is significant. There's two of them because she's afraid of that happening to her again.
When he kisses her, though, she does her best to forget all that. She presses up against his body, lifting her hand to cup the side of his neck as she deepens the kiss. He's good to her. That's what she's concentrating on now. He's good to her, he makes her feel good, and she's here. He deserves her to be present, to not be thinking about anything else and so she lets it go. For now, she just lets it go and concentrates on Caden.
