She asks him about his book and it distracts him enough to set down the menus, cheeks going pink as he looks a little sheepish. "Well, actually, the main character is a siren. I started it before I knew about you, though. But I will admit you might have inspired her a little anyway, which is kind of embarrassing to admit."

He reaches up to rub the back of his neck. "She's a detective in New Orleans, and she gets assigned to this string of murders and she ends up figuring out that it's a succubus. I thought that a siren trying to do right versus a succubus just out to kill would be interesting, because the two are similar enough, at least in lore. I thought the two of them going up against each other would make for a good story."
